From idea to impact
Our Journey
We began as an experimental idea: could games spark deeper curiosity in STEM subjects for learners in under-resourced classrooms? Between 2016 and 2019, we tested early prototypes with over 5,000 learners across 100 schools, working closely with teachers to observe how game-based learning could drive engagement and understanding. We hosted 4 pilot tournaments, created multiple proof-of-concept games, and saw promising results in how learners responded to coding, science, and mathematics when content was delivered through storytelling and strategic play. These years planted the seed for a scalable, game-based model that could transform learning—starting with curiosity.
We secured grants from the Technology Innovation Agency and won a Seed Award from the SAB Foundation, validating our model of experiential learning in under-resourced schools. From 2018 to 2022, we focused on STEM game design and R&D, creating a growing library of mobile, card, and board games—including our first mobile game published on the Google Play Store. Our development process was guided by regular feedback from both educators and learners, helping us refine gameplay mechanics, align more closely with curriculum, and deepen our impact. These years laid the foundation for scale—proving that experiential, game-based learning can be both practical and powerful in classrooms that need it most.
In 2023, Mind Blown League officially launched as a learning innovation company, rolling out original games across the country, forming school clubs, and training facilitators to bring hands-on learning to more classrooms. We began expanding our team, including hiring a full-time narrative design writer, recognising that storytelling is central to how we design, teach, and connect with learners. As part of our commitment to youth development, we joined the YES4Youth Programme, welcoming five interns in our first year and another five this year—contributing to the upskilling of unemployed youth and growing the creative education sector. Our approach is not only learner-focused, but also aligned with ESG principles, ensuring our impact is socially responsive, inclusive, and scalable.
